Caught-In / Caught-Between — poster
Caught-in/between hazards — one of OSHA's Fatal Four — crush workers between equipment and walls, inside unguarded machinery, and under collapsing material. These deaths share a pattern: someone entered a space a machine could close.
Between a swinging excavator and a wall. Between a backing truck and a dock. Between suspended steel and the column it's landing on. Identify the closing space before you stand in it.
Belts, gears, augers, PTO shafts, rotating shafts grab gloves, sleeves, and hair in a heartbeat. Guards stay on; loose clothing and dangling gear stay away; jewelry comes off.
Never work under equipment or loads supported ONLY by hydraulics — cylinders drift and hoses burst. Use rated jack stands, cribbing, or safety props.
Barricade the counterweight swing area of excavators and cranes. Operators check mirrors and spotters before swinging — the guy taking measurements behind you can't hear the machine over his own task.
