Noise & Hearing Protection — poster
Hearing damage is painless, invisible, and permanent. By the time you notice you're asking people to repeat themselves, the damage is done. Construction noise routinely hits 90–105 dB — well past the 85 dB danger line.
If you must raise your voice to be heard at arm's length, you need hearing protection. Saws, grinders, generators, nail guns, jackhammers — all of them qualify.
Foam plugs: roll, pull the ear up and back, insert, hold while they expand. Half-inserted plugs cut protection to nearly nothing. Muffs need a full seal — glasses arms and beanies break it.
Jackhammering, demolition, work near pile drivers: plugs AND muffs together. Take breaks from noise when you can — exposure adds up over the shift.
Mowers, chainsaws, concerts, shooting — your ears don't know you're off the clock. The hearing you save funds every conversation of your retirement.
