Signal person or crane operator? Check this is the right course ›
Signal person training here covers what 29 CFR 1926.1428 expects a crane signal person to know: standard hand signals, radio signal procedure, crane dynamics, and load and swing-path awareness — about 1 hour online, self-paced, with a certificate of completion the same day, valid for two years. It is for crew assigned to signal cranes on construction and telecom sites. Qualifying as a signal person under 1926.1428 also requires a practical test from a qualified evaluator, which this course does not replace — it is the knowledge half. 100% online, and available in Spanish and Russian.
What you'll learn
The signal person is the crane operator's eyes. Learn every standard hand signal, clear radio communication, load and swing-path awareness, and the coordination that keeps crews alive around heavy lifts. Become the qualified signaler sites are required to have.

Questions
Not by itself. 1926.1428 requires passing both a written or oral test and a practical test given by a qualified evaluator — either a third party or your employer’s own qualified evaluator. This course covers the knowledge side: hand signals, radio procedure, crane dynamics and swing-path awareness. The practical evaluation still has to happen separately, at the equipment.
Reviews
“The games were fun but did not clearly indicate when you were complete, it kept restarting level 6 which was confusing”
Peter
“This information will be very useful in my everyday work life experiences. We do several crane picks a year.”
Gary
“Very straight forward”
Sean
